P5 Cumbria tour

Second day of Ellon P5 Cumbria tour saw us travel to Penrith who were our hosts. Today the teams attending were Penrith Rfc ltd x2,Cockermouth/ Keswick combined,and Ryton.
Again we were blessed with fantastic weather.The P5 Ellon squad were in a quiet mood after a previous big day of hard games.
First up Cockermouth/Keswick.
It was apparent from the kick off we were in for a physical battle.
As before they used there big guys to run their hard lines trying to break the Ellon defence. This was not to be as Ellon scored first.Some end to end stuff and Ellon feeling the pressure we ran out 4-3 winners.
Next up Penrith 1
With a squad of 28 to choose from our hosts played their part.Ellon had been 'ruffed' up having to tackle,tackle,tackle and maul to keep in the game.Finding ourselves 3-0 down we had a hill to climb.Half time came and the ellon guys had a chat in what was needed. At this age to understand and take on board is a feat in itself. The guys dug in and started to target the Penrith strike players.Some superb rugby saw Ellon come back 3-3!!!!
With out exuberant supporters and Coach Geoff needing oxygen,a great move from the ruck saw quick hands to the wing Ellon score. Ellon win 4-3
The games that followed saw the Ellon squad lift their tales winning their last 2 games.
Ellon v Ryton. 5-0
Ellon V Penrith (2) 5-0
This tour has given this P5 squad a great game experience, They have battled and battled in their games but most of all enjoyed themselves and to their own words "played team rugby". Our ethos this tour was to play for each other and build friendships to which I believe has been achieved. Again guys I am proud to coach you all and may your rugby achievements continue.
