This weekend in the Youth section Ellon took on Perthshire in the Lancers Conference, a set of games moved from the previous week due to rain.

U15 expected a good game of rugby, and the game started well by both teams, with strong attack and defence, however Lewis Duncan ran hard from quick ball and crashed over after 4 minutes for the first score, converted by Ben Dickie. 4 minutes later Archie Falconer ran in a wide try after the pack worked hard going forward for the backs to go wide. Perthshire were a little shocked by the Ellon attack play, something Ellon have worked hard on since the last time the teams met. With a strong defence holding Perthshire out, Ellon always attacked hard and fast. With Lewis Milne firing well at Hooker with his throw and in the scrum, Ellon U15 had a good base to attack from. The scrum push improved enough to win a couple against the head. After 14 minutes Dylan Kemp went over, converted by Ben Dickie. Kai Taylor then went over for the first of his hatrick of tries, converted by Ben. Perth sneaked a try back to show that they were not out of the game yet. Ben Dickie however finished the half off with a try of his own, which he converted. During the second half, Ellon scored with Fin Ritchie, Mat Lusher, two for Kai Taylor and the last try went to Reese Melling. Two conversions to Ben Dickie. Perthshire scored an unconverted try also. This took the score to 62 -12 and the game stopped as it had reached 50 points deficit.

All the coaches agreed this was the best team performance ever for the squad! It seemed a perfect storm as all the players had very good games. As always there are work ons, which will be looked at mid week for next weekend.
Man of the match went to Hat trick scorer Kai Taylor, Support player to Lewis Milne, and BRA to Finlay Hagen and Stevie Gray.
U15 moved top of the table joint with Gordonstoun who they play in two weeks, although Mackie have a game in hand.
Next weekend Ellon Youth travel to Dundee to take of League newcomers Dundee Rugby.

On the whole club front, Ellon also move top, with 12 out of a possible 14 points this weekend.
