Ellon U15 vs Perthshire 12/03/2017

Well done everyone on today's performance, a few small areas still to work on, but that's what we train for.
A big thank you to the boys that played for Perthshire, I know it goes against the grain to play for the opposition, but you all got more game time as a result and we all want to play rugby.
Today would have been all too easy for you to sit back thinking the game is already won and no need to work hard, but I'm glad to say that you didn't and worked hard for the entire game, always looking for the next opportunity to score.
We started well with an early try, but then let Perthshire come back at us a little. We dug deep though, making some great tackles against their strong forwards and us managing to regain possession.
We were a little too slow in our defensive setup at times and gave away some silly offside penalties. Line speed was a little slow too, allowing the opposition to run onto us rather than us moving up and shutting them down. When our line speed was good, you proved yet again that it works and gives them nowhere to go. We need to keep at this for future games.
Half time came with us retaining a clean sheet. Determined to keep a clean sheet, we started the second half with a renewed vigour and everyone wanting a piece of the action. Perthshire showed great spirit and were not going to lie down without a fight and eventually getting a deserved try. We continued to apply pressure though and tightened up our discipline giving away fewer soft penalties. The team worked well together with some fantastic link up play to run in try after try right to the very end.
Well done guys, a great team performance. You should be proud of yourselves and bring the same hunger and aggression to the next game.
