A win is a win

This was the final pool game in the Culblean Challenge

With Banff developing their youth squad from the ground up this season they only brought 9 players.
This has made it a difficult match to comment on. But what I can say is the future looks bright for the Banff youth teams as the group of players u13s' brought played with great desire and self belief. When they combined this with their tenacity and physicality they caused us problems and got us sucked into a tight game. This was the main contributor to their scores.

To ensure worthwhile development we shared players across to Banff this made it a 10 a side game. The numbers of shared players fluctuated during the game due minor injuries but this did not deter from the sportsmanship from the Ellon players that got rotated into the Banff team. Harrison, Millar, Cameron and Stewart played with great work ethic for Banff whose coach complimented them on during and after the game. Their team play with Banff did in fact give Millar and Cameron individual scores for Banff against Ellon.

The main theme of the 3x 15min periods was rugby with close hard running from both teams. But with only 10 players a side when the ball got out wide scores where there to be had. But it would seem the players didn't quite grasp that for large parts of the game with inside cutting runs becoming too familiar especially for us.

Overall a win is a win which Rory as todays captain should be proud of.

The game had strong tackling performances from Noah and scoring from Euan R. But with Millar playing in the unfamiliar role to him at #10 and getting on the scoreboard for both teams as well as having successful conversions he is todays POTM.

Well done Millar and thank-you to the whole team for sticking at it in difficult circumstances today.

The side line support was as ever great to see- many trying out coffee from the new Caber Coffee machine which looks like it will be a great success.

Next game is the Culblean Challenge Quarter Final, Sunday 3rd March, with the draw still to be confirmed - so save the date and see you all next time.
