Ellon S1 squad travelled to Kellands Park to take on Garioch. Lack of numbers from Garioch saw Ellon playing 10 aside with Ellon supplying two players to Garioch for each session of play. Ellon were quick of the mark at the start with good pressure in the rucks paying off with a try from Ryan Burnett. Ellon managed to keep the pressure on with much of the play being in the Garioch half with Ryan scoring a second try. Garioch stepped up a gear in the second session of play and managing to break through some gaps in Ellons defence and scoring three tries in quick succession. Ellon battled hard after losing an early try in the third session, to regain control of the game through some great tackling and rucking from the boys. James Hamilton opened the scoring this session followed by Jack Duncan making a few great driving runs down the left wing resulting in two quick fire tries and followed up by another powerful drive through by Daniel Brown to score in the last minute of the game. Final score Ellon 20 Garioch 16. Ellon’s man of the match went to Jack Duncan.
A great day for the Ellon boys achieving their first win of the season giving them a well-deserved boost in confidence.
