First game up on the final round robin in the Caley Cup was Highland, at home, and on the 3G. Losing the toss, Highland had the wind which funnelled down the pitch. A fairly even first 5 minutes, but Highland dominated the final 5 of the first half. Ellon defended well, running from defence as well to counter the wind. No scores at half time and Ellon had the wind. A very forward orientated set of phases, led to Jamie Brooks going over and conversion to Josh Andrew. A similar second try to Ellon, as they drove forward, a couple scrums and some good advantage from a high tackle and Jamie was over again. Conversion for 14-0 and 1 minute left. Highland used this minute well as they attacked with ball in hand and spread wide for the first time. Ellon defence faltered a little as Highland scored at the death, missing the conversion for a 5-14 win to Ellon. Man of the match to Jamie Brooks.
