Having the game they should be playing against Gordonstoun cancelled and put down as a draw, Ellon played Deeside/Garioch combined U16 at the Meadows on Saturday afternoon.
Ellon in determined mind set, came out strong, but great running by the Deeside centre and Deeside scored first out wide and missed the conversion. That was the only score for Deeside that afternoon as Ellon defended excellently. Double tackles and great support rucking, this was Ellon U16s most impressive performance to date.
With a strong defence and an even stronger attack, Ellon scored through Ryan Hanton and used that hard running through the forwards to really square up to Deeside and force them into a forward orientated half. Three more tries to Ellon for Jamie Brooks, Ross Davidson, and Daniel Ruddy.
Half time was 24-5 to Ellon.
Second half started very strong for Ellon with a score early on to Jamie Brooks. Ellon then used the forwards to drive straight and bring the Deeside defence in and then spin the ball wide to the backs. Josh Andrew scored next, then further tries to Daniel Ruddy, Ross Brown, and finally Josh Andrew, for a final score of 55-5. Man of the match to Daniel Ruddy for fantastic running lines from the front row, although there were many great performances.
Up next Livingston away in the National Cup, Sunday 14:00!
