Initially they were merging with Shetland, but Shetland withdrew midweek, leaving Orkney short of players. They came anyway and games were played at U13/14, U15/16 and U18, with Ellon lending players over at all three age bands to ensure proper games went ahead. Some good games with everyone getting game time. Ellon won all three, but it was more about a decent training game rather than a conference game.
Ellon U16 lent over 5 players to Orkney and they played the whole game for Orkney as they were enjoying it. Ellon's Felix Middleton scored two of Orkneys three tries. Man of the Match Ryan Dickie scored a hattrick for Ellon.
Next weekend is similar with Ellon hosting Ross Sutherland Youth at the Meadows Sunday 12:00 ko. Games will be at U13/14, U15/16 only this weekend. This is a cross conference fixture.
After that Ellon Youth face Deeside at home, then Gordonstoun away in the last games of the conference. Only maximum points will see Ellon taking the Overall club conference title for the first time. U16 need a win against Deeside to take second spot. First or Second spot for U16 means qualifying for National Cup.
