After winning the toss, Ellon received and attacked strongly. Working with the forwards and keeping it tight to start. Kicked to the corner from a penalty gave the forwards a chance to deliver a strong line out and rolling maul, with Ross Stewart scoring from the back of the maul. However a slight lapse led to Deeside scoring back quickly, both missing the conversion. After a strong defence by Ellon against the strong Deeside centres crash ball and both teams wanting to play fast rugby, it was a good half, but low scoring. Deeside scored and then Ellon’s scored via Jamie Brooks to have a half time score of 12 - 12.
Second half saw Deeside bring on a new 9 and their centre come off with a head knock. Ellon were rolling the front row and subbed in the back line also. Scoring quickly through Ryan Dickie, Ellon then went from strength to strength scoring through forwards hard work, backs passing, some exciting kicks and chases. Tries to Jamie Brooks (2), Mason Moir (2), Josh Andrew and Felix Middleton, gave Ellon the win, along with 5 second half conversions. Final score Deeside 19-57 Ellon.
