With full back Fraser Chalk away with Boys Brigade and a few sick, Ellon were restricted in players numbers for this match. In a fast paced end to end game it was 19 all at half time and ended 40-39 at the end, with Granite City kicking a conversion to win it.
This was a 79 point game, won by 1 point! Granite City scored first on 10 minutes but Ellon replied with two tries from Stevie Gray and Reese Melling and a conversion to Ben Dickie. There was then an exchange of tries between both teams (Daniel Gillie for Ellon) for the half to finish 19-19. Second half Ellon scored first through Finlay Hagen, and then Gillies again, Ellon and Granite City exchanged tries again, with Ben Dickie scoring. On 60 minutes, Ellon had the lead 31-34 and received a penalty. Decision was to kick for 3 points (which was the correct decision), making it 31-37. However Ellon U16 were guilty of what Granite City U18 did the previous day. Rather than see the game out, a stray pass in their 22 saw Granite city get the ball and score a converted try in the last minute to win 38-37.
Up next a midweek game against Deeside.
