Muntly were short of players for the match so the game was awarded to Ellon before a ball was kicked. This ment Ellon could rest a couple of players who had knocks. They lent 4 players in the first half and played 11s, then 3 the second half to play 10s. It was a decent enough game after that as the teams exchanged tries. Ellon played the better rugby, passing and offloading despite the wet muddy weather.
Ellon got to play in their new kit, which was provided by the sponsors, Futura Investments, Sellars, Bon Accord Care and Brian Gray. Some stand out performances, and man of the match to Kai Taylor for his determination and effort for 50 minutes, and support play to Fin Hagen for his effort for both teams, and Dylan Kemp for support lines in the second half, culminating in his first try of the season.
Maximum points for Ellon again sees them sit second in the conference. Some big games coming up, Granite City next weekend and then Deeside midweek for a National Cup spot. Ellon want to maintain pressure on Mackie at the top, so when they come to Ellon, it will be for the Conference win.
