The First XV played in Elgin Saturday against Moray. In a game that should have been close, Ellon were out manned in the scrum and this led to little ball for the awaiting backs. Moray were very powerful in the scrum and drove Ellon back for most of the game. In the final 10 minutes some substitutions for both teams gave Ellon the advantage and from the first scrum win, Ellon scored a converted try by Greg Roger. The game had started promising for Ellon as repeated penalties by Moray led to a 0 – 9 lead for three converted penalties by Ali Addy. Then Moray began their dominance of the scrum, which they worked close to score repeated tries.
Final score was 52 – 16. This weekend Ellon play at home against Ross Sutherland at the half way point in the league.
