however the distance between the two teams was clearly evident. From the start Hillfoots took the game to Ellon and dominated the game in most aspects. Once again Ellon struggled for players with a number drafted in to support. Strong attacking play left Ellon 5 33 down at half time, with their only score coming from an unconverted try from Sam Mountain.
Second half saw Ellon play much better with 2 further tries and one converted, they also restricted Hillfoots to 10 second half points. In so winning the second half 12 10, but the damage had already been done and it was too much for Ellon to claw back. The second half try scorers were Gavin Campbell and Liam Smith .
Results in Caledonia 1 didn’t go Ellon’s way either, with a surprising win for Morgan against Glenrothas and Caithness beating Strathmore, leaving Ellon rooted to the bottom of the league. A loss this weekend coming would see Ellon all but relegated, with Mackie as opposition, both teams will be well up for a local derby.
