First XV winning their first game of the season with a closely fought game, won in the last seconds.

It was a game Ellon had targeted for a win, with Caithness having a hard time and not travelling well. In fact Caithness had lost the last two games at Ellon, costing them promotion last year. Caithness however had other plans and were first to score with a rolling forward pack. It was this pack Caithness used all the game to attack Ellon, with limited backs options. However with Ellon also having a huge pack there was a great contest up front. Ellon won a couple of scrums against the head with big drives, but failed in the first half with the line out. Line outs were called not straight, and some missed by the jumper, led to an advantage to Caithness. When Caithness tried to play the ball wide, it was at the wrong end, passing to the winger inside their own 5m line led to Jimmy Young intercepting and scoring. Ali Edwards broke the gain line every time he had the ball, but his knee was clearly giving him pain, subbed in the second half for the young Kieran Leith who played a great 30 minutes, making some big hits at the ruck. Caithness had built up a small lead of with 20 minutes left, however repeated offences led to a yellow card and 8 minutes later a second one. This let Ellon in with two tries to get close to Caithness. With 1 minute left, in their own 22, Ellon attacked hard with a great kick by Ovenstone and some good forwards hard graft. Two attack phases by the backs drew Caithness to the far side of the pitch for the ball to be sent to the other. Douglas Sharp (19) at flanker took the ball and ran 20 meters before finally offloading to Adam Krasjuk (18) to score the winning try with time up! Great work from the young members of the squad. The crowd and players were delighted with win! Final score 41 35, tries for Krasjuk, Sharp, A Edwards, Young, Hacket, Halmshaw. Although it was a great win, there is still a lot to work on, there could have been a couple more tries and less pressure if passes had been made, while less tries conceded with better defensive understanding.
