Ellon overcame the odds in dramatic style at the Meadows on Saturday, April 5, to ensure their survival in Caledonia 1.
A six try, 47-14, victory over Glenrothes was enough for the home side to win the Caley playoffs and put a shine on their somewhat battered reputation in north east rugby after losing to their previous match to Garioch.
Ellon, who were thrown into a relegation playoff due to a raft of demotions from the Championship leagues, needed to deny the Fifers two points to stay in Caley 1.
The result means league toppers Glenrothes and Garioch remain in Midlands 2 and North 2 respectively.
Full-back, Hamish Dalgarno, rounded off another impressive display in an Ellon shirt with a try, four conversions and three penalties to give him a 22 point haul.
Ilyine came off the bench to score a brace while other tries came from Johnson, Cox and Holland in an all round dominant performance from the Meadows men.
