Some sad news, with the passing of a past player, Captain and President Clive Henry. Please see below a piece written by past President R Porteous

Clive Henry.
It is with sadness and regret to inform everyone about the death of Clive Henry. Clive died peacefully at the weekend after a period of illness.
Clive was a past player, Captain 1987 to 1989, 1991 to 1992 and President from 1993 to 1994.
During his playing time his position was full back but during his captaincy he always led from the front, fully focused, his flair and ability could turn a game around, he was exciting to not only watch but to be on the pitch with as he came on to the ball and being amazed at the move which unfolded. This is something which is sometimes lacking in our game today, real skill. Off the field he also had the club at heart, working to help raise funds, organising and attending many nights in the clubhouse and tours for the team. He was a real man’s man for the game as a whole. My most amusing memory of Clive was on tour to Dublin where while standing on a chair singing in a pub. His false tooth projected from his mouth and landed on the floor in amongst the crowd watching, this led to a fruitless search but this did not bother Clive as he was laughing the loudest. He had to pay a visit to the dentist as soon as he was back in Ellon. One of his other legacies which stayed with club for many years was the man of the match tradition “Higher than the highest mountain” which many a visitor to the Ellon club experienced over the years..
Ah Clive you will be sadly missed, Rest in Peace, Prepare the pitch in the sky and we will all join you one day.

Richard Porteous
Past President . Ellon R.F.C.
