U18 played first game on Saturday, a large squad of relatively young players, started well on 2 minutes with some fancy work by stand-off Josh Andrew as he ran through the Wanderers defence and scored with an easier conversion for Daniel Gillies. It took a further 15 minutes for the next try. Wanderers defence was improving, but Ellon kept attacking, missing a few opportunities, however Ellon defence was strong. Mason Moir scored on 17 minutes with some close passing and a strong drive to the line out wide. Soaking up any attack from Wanderers, Ellon went forward again and using Harvey Clark, who usually plays on the wing, but moved to centre to try new position. First Josh broke the line and attacked wide, using the forwards then to attack right, before spinning the ball left for Clark to score. Conversion to Gillies. 19-0 half time.
Second half Ellon absorbed pressure, but missed another couple of chances to score. Lots of player changes to give everyone game time caused a little disruption.
Cameron Arthur on at stand-off had a good kicking and passing game, picked up a loose pass on the Wanderers 22 and ran wide, avoiding three tackles all with good hand offs, to score on the wing. The final try came to Ross Davidson, a ripped ball for turnover on the half way was spun wide, where two 2v1s were executed perfectly for Ross to receive the ball and dance through 2 defenders and avoid the full back to score under the posts. Arthur kicked the conversion to make it 31-0.
