However they started well with a strong attack ending up with a penalty kicked by James Evans. Then cam some great backs work whioch ended up with Adam Krasjak going over for a converted try.
Ellon then had a spell of indiscipline which led to a few Mackie penelties, but they only converted the one. Half time was 10 – 3.
James then started the second like the first and kicked a penalty before a switch in positions in the backs led to Nathan Emery running in a try which was also converted. Sam Archibald then ran in another try making it 25 – 6. Then Ellon started to let Mackie back into the game in the last 10 minutes. Two tries and a penalty gave them a final score of 28 – 18, but didn’t really teel the tale of Ellon’s dominace of the game.
Both flankers for Ellon had a great game, especially Daniel Hook who was playing his first game at this position. Both could have had man of the match, except Tom Owen was yellow carded for a late tackle, which gave it to Daniel.
This win puts Ellon U18 into the Caledonia Cup final against Highland away in Inverness next Sunday. Also that day Ellon U16 will be playing Highland in the Shield Final in Inverness; both games are 11:00 KO.
