U18 played top side Stirling County at the Meadows.

Ellon had a strong start with an excellent work rate from the tight five and strong runs from Captain Ellis Swainston, resulting in a penalty and 3 points after 9 mins from the boot of James Evans. An ever improving back line moved the ball well to keep the pressure on Stirling but after 21 mins Ellon lost some focus resulting in Stirling scoring 3 tries in 8 mins. It was a very physical game with Stirling picking up: one broken collarbone, one shoulder dislocation/concussion and dead leg however with a strong and full bench, Stirling continued to control the game scoring another few tries bringing the score to 55-3. Deep in the second half after covering every blade of grass both in attack and defence Matthew Emmison was rewarded with a try converted by Man of the Match Evans to leave the score at 55-10.

Coach Neil Emmison said "The score line does not give an accurate reflection of just how well this team is improving game on game - at some point soon these boys will be taking a few surprise scalps and helping to put NE U18 rugby firmly on the National map"

Coach Ross Finlay said "Myself and the rest of the coaches are pleased with today's performance and I feel as a squad they need to correct some mistakes, but are all looking forward to Deeside away next weekend".

Vice President Gareth Kemp said “I take great pride for the club watching these young men, and it was a very good performance against one of the top teams in the country”. “Now we have a couple of local derbies against Deeside and Highland to prepare for”!
