Orkney U16 made the long trip south to the Meadows on Saturday. Ellon U16s had 3 key players missing due to concussion so some of the U15 s stepped up to assist. These younger lads all performed well with Sam Martin in particular making his presence felt. Ellon opened the scoring early with a Lochlann Bridgeford chase down resulting in a nifty pick up by Ross Greig who touched down for the try and then kicked the conversion. The Ellon lads were just too well organised for Orkney and the boys played an excellent first half with some well rehearsed set pieces and team play leading to a half time score of 50-0 to Ellon, with 8 tries to nil. The score was stopped at 50 – 0. The game continued, but it gave both teams a chance to experiment with positions and moves etc. The boys took their feet of the gas for a short while in the 2nd half letting Orkney in for a try which was converted. This was the shake up they needed and Ellon picked up the pace and started improving ball distribution. A great all round team performance resulted in a full time score of 79-7. The Ellon scorers were Ross Greig 5 tries and 3 conversions, 3 tries each for Ryan Notton and Archie Andrade, 1 try and 4 conversions for Nathan Shirron and 1 try from Jordan Gray.
