Ellon U16s Continue Winning ways

Ellon U16s played a spirited Deeside team on Sunday the 20th of November and ran out as worthy winners and continued their excellent team performances. This young team continues to excel in every department.
After a strong start the Ellon youngsters scored an early penalty through a B. Fraser kick. A large Deeside pack tried hard to dominate the contact, but with good effect the Ellon forwards maintained good discipline and worked hard for each other across the park to maintain good ball control.
This discipline enabled Ellon to secure another penalty which was subsequently kicked into touch close to the Desside Try line. An excellent catch and drive through Budge and the rest of the Ellon pack enabled a jubilant C. Silver to score over the line after a strong effective maul.
Fraser duly converted the try and Ellon went into the half time interval leading 10 points to nothing against a persistent Deeside Team.
The second half started in much the same way with Ellon maintaining a strong defence and again working hard for each other. After a period of effective phased play by the Deeside pack they scored under the posts and converted the try with 15 minutes to go.
Ellon spent much of their time in the Deeside half of the pitch and after a strong passage of play by the forwards Ellon sped the ball out to the rapid Ellon backs and a good burst from E. Cavan followed by good support from C. Avis gave Avis the opportunity to run and after a few side steps and a sprint of 30 metres he ran over to score the second Ellon try putting the home team 15 to 7 up. The never saying die of the Deeside team scored late on after a loose pass from an Ellon player. Ellon deserved the victory after a good team performance which now takes the youngster 4 points clear at the Top of North Premier U16s league with 4 games to play and maintains an excellent undefeated record so far this season.
