Ellon produced another excellent performance against a renewed Wanderers team who came to the Meadows off the back of a win at Highland. The game started at a pace with a strong pick and go and offload by the talented Ellon Pack. Silver worked well with MaClean to put Prince in for the first score which was converted by Fraser.
After a good passage of play Ellon went further ahead when Purdie who had had a good game slipped a pass to Bruce who ran to the line and passed to Silver who dove over the line for a good score.
Not to be out done Wanderers scored a simple try after a lapse in concentration from Ellon which was converted. Moving into half time both teams had put on a good solid performance and it was all to play for in the second half as the score sat at 12 v 7 in Ellon favour. Ellon started to get their game going and with good work from Anderson, Budge and Owen who had been a monster all day the Ellon forwards generated some good ball for the backs.
As the Ellon pressure started to tell Wanderers started to kick and after one kick the ball went straight to Avis who from inside his own 22 caught the ball and ran straight for the space beating 4 players on the outside he sprinted up the pitch to place the ball over the Wanderers try line to score under the posts for a well deserved try which Fraser put over the posts.
Wanderers had a penalty kick over the posts and from the subsequent kick off Ellon put the visitors under intense pressure. Through a quick turnover Emmison capitalised having seen the space on the short side he ran through to score another strong try. The Wanderers valiant effort was over and it was good to have the Aberdeen side up at the Meadows. The final score ran out at 24 points to 10 but it was good to see Ellon maintain an excellent disciplined performance demonstrating flair and the constant desire to work for each other and win a game which Wanderers contributed well to.
