Ellon U16s showed just why they were voted Aberdeenshire Sports Council Team of the Year after a truly emphatic display of running exciting rugby against Kirkcaldy at the weekend in the Champions League.
Ellon started well and within 20 minutes had put 22 points on the board with no reply with an impressive forwards display that allowed the strong backs to put key scores on the board.
As the game ran on Ellon dominated the set piece and continued to put immense pressure on the opposition and by half time the score stood at 45 points to 5 for Kirkcaldy.
Ringing the changes at half time with replacements coming on did not stunt this rampant display despite an early score from Kirkcaldy a good Ellon support watched how the youngsters put on an excellent display scoring a further 37 points.
It would be wrong to single out any one player as all the Ellon team put together an outstanding display of what can only be said adult rugby.
