Medics are a very good side

Ellon RFC have now taken maximum points from their opening four games following Saturday’s win over Aberdeen University Medics.
The 39-19 win at the Meadows means Ellon have won all four of their league fixtures this season, as well as a win over Inverness CD in the cup, and recorded a try scoring bonus point in each match.
Speaking after Saturday’s win, 1st XV coach Sam Mountain was delighted to keep the momentum going even with Medics causing a few problems along the way.
He said: “The scoreline flattered us today massively. Medics are a very good side and for prolonged periods gave us problems and I’m sure they will surprise a few teams this year. “Jonnie Moogs came off the bench and got a double and was strong in the set piece.
“Our front five gave us an attacking platform by being dominant in the set piece and at the breakdown, from which Lochlann Bridgeford, last year’s under-18s captain, has stepped up and has been playing incredibly well which again is credit to our thriving junior and youth sections producing quality.
“If someone told me we would have four out of four at the start of the season I would have bitten their hand off and the start we have had is credit to the effort and hard work the players.
“We are happy with the wins but we know we are capable of producing more which is really exciting. The guys were disappointed after the Medics game which shows the standards they have set if they are disappointed with a bonus point win.”
This Saturday, Ellon are at home to local rivals Garioch, who have also yet to lose a league game this season.
“Games against Garioch are always tough battles and they will be looking to keep their unbeaten record at the expense of ours,” said Mountain.
“Without doubt it will be physical and hard but the team who is most disciplined and wins the breakdown will probably prevail and keep their unbeaten record which we hope is us.”
