We decided to mix it up a little for this match and started two of our backs as flankers and moved a couple of forwards into the backs. We're keen to get the lads up to speed with a couple of positions each so that they can not only cover other positions, but also have a good understanding of these other roles for future development and game management.
GC only turned up with 13 players so best laid plans and all that..... We still managed to mix it up and it was 30-0 by half time so the game went to a developmental game.
Very pleased with the lads that were playing out of position but also particularly pleased with the levels of tackles and jackals completed as this was what we were working on in training this week.
That being said, there was a couple of missed tackles but the break through player was tackled well by Dylan Jakeman whom was also playing out of position at fullback. When it moved to development game, Liam moved our best bullets and jacklers to the wing and brought our wingers into the centre of the pitch and this led to some excellent jackling from our wingers also.
Finally, in attack, there was some awesome support running and we also really started spreading it to the wing which provided us with a real alternative attack to the usual crash ball that the lads tend to rely on a lot. Mackenzie made some great runs and worked hard to stay on his feet for the offload which is exactly what we were looking for from him.
Players player this week went to Mackenzie and coaches player went to Jamie whom made some excellent side steps to break the line and find a lot of space. Well done to all - it was a chilli wet day but always enjoyable to watch when the whole team embraces change and performs well. More photos to follow - See you all Wednesday.....
