I think it's fair to say that some of the basics weren't as good as they were last Sunday against Mackie, but the lads did well and grinded out a good win over a strong rucking Gordonstoun.
Liam summed this performance up well last night - "if the lads can perform when they are tired after school (and 10 mile walks...), then they can definitely perform when they're proper switched on...." :-)
Gourdonstoun were definitely bossing the lads in the rucks and were fairly well set in defence also. The lads worked hard at spreading it wide again today but there wasn't quite the same zip in the pace of ball and feet as there was last Sunday.
Players Player was Odhran who came on for the second half and really went about organising our defence with a good work ethic which spurred the rest of the lads to keep their shape better in defence and see out the game.
Some strong running from Gregor and Johannes as ever, but unfortunately, not always enough support with them and when tackled, our bullet was slow to secure the ball. Ras, Tyler and Jakey worked hard to support in many of the runs but quite often the lads found themselves isolated when tackled.
It's all there though, very hard for Liam and I to pick the coaches MotM but we went with Jake whom had a high work rate throughout the match, tackled well and cleared out some rucks also.
Very well done to all - I think they all enjoyed it but we defo prefer morning matches.....!! ;-)
