P4 MATCH REPORT

This was our first bus trip as a P4 team at the invitation of Madrascals, St Andrews. Only 2 weeks into the season and all I was hoping for was that the players took all their new tackling skills and used them in a competitive situation. I GOT SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT!!!
First up, Watsonians, a formidable team from a fabulous club. Things started off pretty even, the teams going tit for tat with regards to scoring. Gradually, thanks to a few individual runs resulting in tries,we pulled away to become eventual winners 9-6.
Next we faced a tough Kinross team and having seen them face the home side I was a little worried. I needn’t have been. We faced their ferocious tackling with bravery and replied with a good few ferocious tackles of our own, no one took a backward step. We saw some good rollicking runs from a number of our players, and working together we succeeded in winning 9-4.
The team saved their best for the final game. The first half versus Madrascals was an amazing contest. Their impressive defence against our continuity and support work. We were 2 scores down going into half time. All I asked of them was to do their best. Put in the best performance they could and we coaches could ask no more of them. Boy, were we amazed. The players dug deep, kept the ball moving forward, tackled bravely and worked together to come away eventually winners 9-8.
We asked them to put in a good performance and my goodness each and every one of them delivered. We can’t ask much more than that.
WELL DONE P4s!!!
