Semi Finalists again at Mackie tournament. Match report by Coach John

Semi finalists again!
I was exhausted after yesterday, you guys must be 100 x more tired after your efforts yesterday. You did yourselves and everybody proud.

Match report
Our first game was against a big physical side in Perthshire. It was a closely fought game with their players putting in big tackles to stop the Ellon attack.  Our attack was superb.
We were keeping the ball and even stealing it from Perthshire.
We are still missing tackles but it's improving and when we started to pressurise their  attack with line speed they started to make errors.
It was great to see you get stuck right in and in my opinion we were the better team but it finished 5-5.
Next came Deeside. After our game with Perthshire we had warmed up and we were great at maintaining the ball with very few handling errors. Our defence improved and we only leaked 2 tries. With great individual runs and support play we scored 5 tried. Bludgeoning our way through the opposition was certainly working but it was our undoing later in the tournament.
Wanderers were next and we played really well in attack and defence. The full back position seems to be working still with anyone breaking through our defence our full back was there to save the day. We scored 5 tried with none conceded.
Mackie were next and our revious physical attacking style of play and with only 8 players  meant that we ran out of gas
We were watching the ball instead of claiming it and their rucking was quick so they stole our ball.
We still showed some flair but it was 6-2 for Mackie.
You were disappointed in your last game with yourselves but you were awesome out there. You gave your all and we were so proud of you.  The referee told us that we can get our hot dogs so we got changed and made or way to the food.  The referee then told us that we made the semi final on tries scored.  Panic!
Gina rushed to get our players back from the food stalls and retrieve our Captain who was heading home.
Quickly changed back into our strip to Meet Garioch.
We had picked up a few knocks, tired and understandably we were not in the zone for this game.  Garioch were faster and we were again guilty of ball watching as in the last game. Some awesome tackles were made in this game and I do not know where you got your energy from but Garioch were too strong in the end. We lost 5-1.
We are a small team in squad size so we don't have the luxury of subs to rest you.
A great achievement to reach a second successive semi final. All the coaches are so proud and you are improving all the time.

Training this week.
We will have a training session on Wednesday  7- 8 pm for the folk who can't make a Thursday.
We also have a training session on Thursday 6.30 to 7.30 with the Maxis.
Feel free to attend both if you can.
