U14 Match Report - Sunday 29/10/17 - Ellon 54 v Granite City 15
Aberdeen Granite City Rugby turned up with 7 boys to play today's conference game, so by default Ellon had won the game, however to ensure a good game of rugby was on the cards this weekend, Ellon gave Granite City 3 players so a ten-a-side development game could go ahead. Therefore basically 7's rugby was on the cards for the lads today.
Ellon started well and Ryan Dickie scored the first try in 3 minutes and converted successfully. 2 minutes later Fin Ritchie ran in his first of 7 tries in this match. Granite City then fought back with 2 tries scored , however alot of the hard work was being done for Granite City via our lads Felix and Sam who subed for them in the first period. Ellon then managed to get the upper hand again by shipping the ball to Fin R who scored 2 more and Ryan converted them. First period ends Ellon 16 v Granite City 8
The second period opened with a blistering run by Fin R scoring in 30 seconds followed up by tries from Ryan Dickie, Fin R and then Ross Stewart all scored in the first 10 minutes of the period and Ryan D converting all 4 tries. Granite City then found some form and fought back scoring in the 13th minute. The remaining period the teams were fairly evenly matched. Second period ends Ellon 32 v Granite City 12.
The final period showed where Ellon's fitness and stamina helped and the forwards started being able to run through Granite city as they tired.
Tries this period, Fin R (3 min), Daniel Ruddy (5 min), Fin R (7 min), Felix Middleton (9 min), Daniel Gillies (12 min), Daniel Gillies (14 min). Granite City scored one final time (through Ellon player Liam Ritchie) to end the match. Final Score Ellon 54 v Granite City 15.
Well done to all the lads for their effort today and support for the opposition to ensure an enjoyable game to play and for the spectators to watch. Well done from the coaches and keep up the effort levels.
