Ellon First game cancelled while U13/14 head to Inverness.

Last weekend Ellon Rugby First XV were due to play Aberdeen University Medics in the league. However the game was cancelled due to frozen pitches, while all other games in the region were played. Ellon become more frustrated at postponed games, as they now creap into the closed season, with three weeks already added to the end of the season. Bonus was that local rivals and second place Garioch lost to Mackie away, leaving Ellon top by 6 points and a game in hand. This coming weekend Ellon travel to Inverurie to play Mackie in what is a top 2 club battle. What ever the outcome Ellon will remain top, but Garioch will be looking to close the gap, while Ellon look to maintain the form that has seen them only loose 1 league game this season.

Youth section had two games against Livingston at U18 and U16 cancelled due to Livingston unable to travel. U14 and U13 traveled to Inverness with small squads to play Highland. Although only a small squad, Ellon U14 played great rugby with the strongest team they could put out. They controlled the game from the start, scoring very early on 30 seconds. However Highland came back, a much stronger opposition than West of Scotland the previous week, scoring next. Ellon went on to score 5 tires and 4 conversions in the first half, to Highlands 2 and 2. The second half was much closer. Highland really came out strong and started to play good rugby. Commanding the breakdown, as Ellon took the foot off the pedal. Ellon however dug deep and went on to out score Highland 3 tries and 2 conversions to 2 2. With a final score 16 30 to Ellon (3 points for a try and 1 for a conversion at this age). Two convincing wins in as many weeks against Top conference teams.
U13 had also traveled with a small squad as over 10 players unavailable this weekend. Highland dominated the gam, but Ellon worked hard to get on the score sheet.
U15 headed down to BT Murrayfield to watch Scotland V France for some team bonding. They were supposed to play Dunfermline as well, but ground conditions stopped the game going ahead.
This weekend coming, as mentioned, sees Garioch v Ellon at senior level, while U18 travel to Inverness to play Highland in the Caley cup, U16 and U15 both play Howe of Fife (or Bell Baxter School) also in the Caley cup (with U15 being the semi finals). U14 and U13 take on Highland in a return match at Ellon.
