Last Saturday Ellon Rugby held its end of season Junior awards ceremony in Aiden Country Park, Mintlaw.

The S1 and S2 (U13 U14) also joined form the Youth section. Despite a little light rain a great crowd turned up with players from the Rugby Rascals (aged 3) up to the U14/S2 lads. It was an extremely hard choice for the coaches as everyone had done exceptionally well, however the following awards were given out:
Mini Micro – Best Player Isaac Masson & Dugald Mattewson. Most Improved Spencer Reid
Maxi Micro – Best Player Patrick Graham. Most Improved Conor Donald
P4 – Player of the Year Riley Hanton. Most Improved Alec Davidson. Players Player Riley Hanton. Endeavour Malachi Wharton/Lottie Young. Best Newcomer John-Paul Friel
P5 – Player of the Year Angus Caven/Jamie Barron. Most Improved Sebastian Orus/Dylan Jakeman. Players Player Gregor Keith. Endeavour Tyler Martin.
P6 – Player of the Year Cameron Arthur. Most Improved Harry Burr. Players Player Christopher Brown. Endeavour Aled Forbes. Best Newcomer Riley Wharton.
P7 – Player of the Year Ryan Dickie. Most Improved Jamie Christie. Player Player Sam Douglas. Endeavour Charlie Skinner. Best Newcomer Jenna Milne and Eva Milne.
S1 – Player of the Year Ben Dickie/Logan Vavangas. Players Player Adam Fowlie. Most Improved Finlay Ritchie.
S2 – Player of the Year Daniel Brown. Players Player Dennis Hazel. Most Improved Lewis Milne. Most likely to Succeed Caleb Jack.
Over all Endeavour Charlie Skinner, Guy Garrick (best newcomer) Jenna and Eve Milne, finally Junior Coach of the Year – Emma Kemp and Steve Brown.
After the awards to was the clubs annual sponsored fun run. Almost 80 people participated, running a 500m route in the park. Some only managed one lap, but some of the S1 lads (Dylan Kemp and Logan Vavangas) ran 10 km in the allotted hour, while club president Paul Vavangas ran 15 km!
So far the day raised almost £3,000 for the club funds from sponsorship and the BBQ!

Finally to close this season, Ellon Rugby had its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday at the Academy in Ellon. Also on that evening the club held a SGM for one specific reason. To vote on becoming a SCIO or Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation. This motioned was voted on with 100% agreeing and from now Ellon Rugby is a registered Charity with 11 Trustees managing the club.

While the Junior and Youth Section finished for the Summer, the U18 and First XV are about to start their preseason. Training is three times a week at Deer Park Tuesday and Thursday 19:00 start, and Saturday 10:00. All welcome, no matter what skill or fitness level you are. We are an all-inclusive club and really welcome all players new and old!
