Last weekend Ellon Rugby held the yearly Royal Bank of Scotland “Rugby Force” day.

It is a day when the club and community can come together to improve the facilities, encourage new members, have a social and generally have a clean-up. Last season Ellon Rugby were very lucky to have 5 Scottish internationals at the club. This season, even without that incentive, over 60 people turned up to support the club. The main projects undertaken was to build a new dugout; clean out the changing room and gym, remove unwanted equipment and tidy up; lay old astro-turf around the dug outs and pitch side. All this was accomplished and as a reward there was a fantastic barbie and a few drinks, while the youngster had a game of touch rugby!
Supported by RBS (along with a £250 cheque!), Aberdeenshire Larder, Murray Machinery and Ellon Timber; EllonRugby made the most of the good weather and completed all the jobs. The pitch side is looking really good in time for the new season.
Vice President Gareth Kemp said “It was a great day and fantastic to see the whole club mixing in and helping out”. “There were lots of people down, including new volunteers and those that don’t even play rugby, so many thanks to everyone”. “There are too many to thank individually, but a massive thanks must go to Brian Gray for the planning and building of the dugout, and for cutting all the astro-turf, we couldn’t have done it without him”. “Another special mention must go to Ellon Rugby Girls team who turned up in number”! “We got loads done and really made a difference for the start of the season”.
