The time has come were we decide on the Clubperson of the Season award. This has been decided on all the monthly winners. They are listed below with their original nominations:
We would like to nominate Geoff Paxton, for always being willing to get involved. Whether it is the BBQ or helping to organise events and turns out for the golden oldies training every week.
Geoff Heath; - for work organising the P5 tour. After booking an organised tour the Club were informed that no other teams registered at the P5 age group so little option but to withdraw … long way to go for no games!! But, not to be defeated by this, Geoff set about phoning rugby clubs local to the tour and has organised 2 mini tournaments for the P5's - 1 on the Saturday with 3 teams and 1 on the Sunday!! Great effort to make something happen and avoided a lot of disappointed P5’s.
Andrew Fraser regularly updates the social media about training times/games/changes of venue for the first XV. And in turn this has helped raise the profile of the 1st XV not only within the club but within the community as a whole. Which has been a major factor in the larger support now attending home games. He is regularly training which has seen some vastly improved performances on the pitch.
I would like to nominate Kerry Pearce for club person of the month. 1st team physio been willing to travel to most away games.
Can I nominate Dr Alasdair Forbes, the main reason is that on the recent P5-7 Cumbria tour he assessed and cared for all the children and the occasional adult, not only for Ellon but also for the children of the other participating clubs. This was much appreciated by their coaches, truly a great ambassador for the club. As well as being a long standing member of the club (17 years and counting), he has regularly acted as pitch side medic for the under 18's for the last few years. He looks after first aid for the junior festivals and tournaments and has sourced medical kit for Senior section.
I nominate Susan Notton for club person of the month for November. Susan has taken on many different roles in the club over the years. A few years back she took on the role of club barbecue Coordinator. Organising, arranging, purchasing and cooking the BBQ. Sometimes cooking in atrocious weather. BBQ provided at all our first team home matches, cup games etc. Also coordinating the festivals and tournaments BBQ with the relevant committee members. It has been challenging at times to get the help needed on the BBQ, but it always goes ahead. I think she should be recognised for all the hard work she has put in over the years.
Would like to nominate Sam Mountain 1st Team Coach. Having only met Sam through passing in the clubhouse we have all grown to be good friends. This has led us to staying behind on Saturdays to watch the 1st team play. We all feel he has transformed the senior side in the club and is generally a good guy and an ambassador for the club. He even goes out of his way to come and see myself and the P5 train and has expressed an interest in coming to away tournaments. All in all super bloke!!!!!
He has done a fantastic amount with the first team, but I have also seen him around during junior training, and his efforts to unite the club socially are just what is needed.
I would like to nominate Sam Mountain as the club person of the month. I believe he would definitely be worthy of this award due to his incredible hard work with the 1st XV team. Sam is showing the skills and knowledge of a coach that has been doing it for numerous seasons whereas in fact it is his first season in this role. He has created a very positive attitude within the team and everyone is enjoying the rugby under him. Having played for the 1st XV last season, I can see a big improvement in the teams attitude and performance during training sessions and also in the games and I think this is due to the coaching staff and Sam in particular.
Matty Pearce as the man week in week out turns up to training. Plays games home and away even with a young family. Put up post protectors flags, washes the kit for the first team. And also is the team manager for the 1st XV. Incredible the amount of work he does and doesn't moan about it. He was also instrumental in organizing the 1st XV trip away to Shetland ensuring everyone had meal tickets room allocations.

IT guru and 1st 15 player, try scorer and general good guy. On a personal level Matt has been helping out at training and at festivals with the Maxis and Minis for the last 6 seasons or so. The kids totally warm to him and I remember him being swamped with heaps of Mini Micros hanging off of him during some games.
