Last weekend Ellon First XV didn’t have a fixture, however their fate was decided in Caley 2N.

RAF Lossiemouth pulled out of the league due to work commitments. This meant in a similar way to Aberdeen Uni Medics, all their games were voided and the points clubs secured lost. Ellon had beaten them twice, while league challengers Garioch only once. So Ellon lost 10 points and Garioch only 5. This gave Garioch an unbeatable spot at the top of the league as they travel to bottom of the league Stornoway this weekend. Ellon play their last game of the season at home against Ross Sutherland with a 15:00 KO. They are looking for second spot, although it doesn’t come with anything except pride.
Last weekend was 7s rugby for the Youth as the U18, U16 U14 and U13 travelled to Moray for their festivals. All teams performed well, with U16 coming second, U14 and U13 both coming third.
U15 travelled to Stirling County for their huge event. Over 20 teams competing over 4 pitches and 4 pools. Winning three games and losing 2, Ellon perform well and enjoyed rugby in the sun!
Juniors headed to Banchory to play in the Deeside tournament. P6 continued their winning streak and dominated the event. P4 stumbled since their last 2 event wins, but it is all about development and the players did fantastically as did the P5. P7 had their best event of the season as their hard work paid off. Another highlight was to see the Calcutta Cup which is on tour of the country.
This weekend there are 2 events on for Ellon Rugby. U14 head to Stirling for the 7s, while First XV play Ross Sutherland as above.
The season is drawing to an end. This weekend marks the end of the Adult rugby, while Youth still have a couple of 7s events, and the Juniors have one final event at Aberdeen Grammar.
