With Ellon First XV game cancelled this weekend, it was the younger players who took the center stage.

Ellon First XV had their game cancelled last weekend as Aberdeen Uni Medics were removed from the league for unforfilling fixtures. The loss for Ellon against Mackie the week before takes the league out of Ellon’s hands. They need Garioch to slip up. Garioch travelled to Ross Sutherland, and were winning 7–31 at half time. Kinross came back hard second half, but Garioch won 31-38!
Big game is Thursday at Garioch for an evening ko, Garioch v RAF Lossiemouth. Last chance for a Garioch slip, as their last two games are Stornaway and Shetland, both the bottom 2 teams. Ellon last game is 19th May against Ross Sutherland.

U15 travelled Sunday to Edinburgh for a big 10 aside tournament at Boroughmuir.
Great day was had. 2/3 wins in the pool games, beating Biggar and a Stirling/ Boroughmuir team. Making the semi final against best side there, Hawick, Ellon scored first and early on, then a quick second, to pile the pressure on. Every lad did so well, offloading, tackles, jackals, support.
Hawick didn’t like it and gave a few high tackles in frustration, but boys ran harder and faster and blew them away 27-0!
Up against Glasgow Hawks in the final, same team they lost to in the pool.
It was half a game too far, as Ellon matched them first half finishing 7-14. Then Glasgow ran away with it as Ellon boys rapidly tired.
Great day and performance against some great teams in perfect rugby weather, and a second place medal.
Back home, U13 and U14 hosted touring team Livingston at the Meadows. Both games early kick offs at 10:30, but Ellon did extremely well. A number U14 were helping the U15 in Edinburgh, so a few U13 stepped up. Ellon won at U14 22-12 in a great game, while U13 won 27-14.

Juniors headed to Aberdeen Grammar for a tournament. Again great rugby played in great weather. Ellon P4 and P6 continued to dominate junior rugby in the NE, by both winning the tournament, second in a row.

Up this weekend is no game for First XV, U15 head to Stirling county for a 7s tournament, and U13/14/16/18 head to Elgin for Moray 7s.
Juniors head to Banchory for Deeside tournament.
