Ellon First XV dominate a tough game against Moray as they battled it out for top spot.

Last Thursday Ellon Youth hosted Canadian Touring team Dr Denison Huskies. They are travelling Scotland for a week playing three games. After playing Highland they headed to Ellon to play at U17 boys and girls. In two great games, Ellon boys won while the girls (who played as Grampian a Girls) lost. Rugby was the winner as these tour matches are great developers of both teams. The Huskies headed on to Dundee to play their final game.
Friday Ellon P5 headed to Glasgow, where they played in a mini festival at the Glasgow Warriors. Doing well they made the final, which was played at half time in the Glasgow game, in front of 8,000 people! Not daunted the P5s did very well, missing out by one try.

Saturday saw the Ellon First XV taken on top of the table Moray in the promotion battle. Ellon knew what was coming and prepared really well midweek.
In front of a huge crowd of nearly 150 people, Moray hit hard up front and tried their usual manor of smash up the middle. Ellon chop tackled and dropped the big players every time for 15 mins, held them out. When Ellon finally got the ball, Ali Addy spun the ball wide and started the scoring with John Campbell. From here Ellon didn’t look back, scoring via Addy himself in a game he controlled for 80 minutes. Ellon scored a couple more before Moray scored 2 back. Ellon went on to score 10 tries in total in a game which they really had to fight for against a tough opposition.
The win moved Ellon back to top of the league by three points over Moray, and a game in hand. This weekend they head to Inverness to play Highland seconds in what will be another tough game.
Ellon have 4 games left to secure promotion to Caledonia One.

At youth, this weekend it is 7s weekend. Saturday 11:00 sees the U15 7s tournament. Ellon have 2 teams in against Shetland, Muntly and Deeside. Sunday it is the turn of U13 and U14. Again 11:00 start.
